Château Cheval Blanc is one of the 4 Château of Saint-Emilion classified Premier Grand Cru classé (A) along with Château Ausone, Château Angélus, and Château Pavie.
The estate covers 41 hectares, including 37 hectares planted with an unusual composition of grape varieties of 57% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot, and small parcels of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Château produces an average of 6000 cases of the Grand Vin and 2500 cases of the second wine, Le Petit Cheval.
On Friday 23 October 2019 a few private customers of Wine Gallery had the pleasure of visiting this legendary estate and have dinner at the Chateau. They had the pleasure to drink Le Petit Cheval Blanc 2016 (white), Château Cheval Blanc 1939 as well as magnums of Château Cheval Blanc 2015, 2005, 2000, and 1995.
Château Cheval Blanc 1939 from two different bottles have been poured from left in glass number 2 and glass number 3. Although 1939 was not a good vintage, the wine is amazingly still good. The bottles have been reconditioned in 2018.
