Tastings of Petrus' new vintage in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019

The vineyard of Pétrus covers 11.4 hectares and is located on a plateau in the eastern portion of Pomerol.

The vineyard is situated on top of a 20-hectare island mound, known to possess topsoil and subsoil high in iron-rich clay that differs from neighboring vineyards, where the soil is a mixture of gravel-sand or clay-sand.

Pétrus produces one red wine from Merlot grapes (100% Merlot since 2010) and produces no second wine.
The average age of the vines exceeds 45 years.

The estate was among the first in Bordeaux to implement green-harvesting as a way to lower crop yields and raise the quality of the remaining grapes.

Although the wines of Pomerol have never been classified, Pétrus is regarded as the outstanding wine of the appellation.
The estate belongs to Jean-François Moueix and his children.

You will find below photos taken by Wine Gallery while visiting the estate with private customers in 2016, 2017 2018, and 2019.
